-> The Light In The Void: Chapter 2

C2 → EVENING IN HAKU CITY – 7:00 PM (20XX/01/09)
REI

Risk Hour had just ended. The fog was finally starting to clear up enough for the sunset to be a little visible. For Rei, this meant everything to him. He would try to see it as much as possible, especially before the dust thickened even more over the next coming months.

Sitting on the pier, Rei watched the sun slowly set behind Mount. Haku. His feet dangling over the water, he thought about the interaction he had with the gray cat he met. Mysterious, but also rare people, had always piqued Rei’s interest, and Arin was no exception. His research into Mount. Haku’s eruption had sparked some sort of admiration in Rei. Most people would put their trust completely into the SDHC, but for some odd reason, Arin wouldn’t do that. Although a lot of people would probably call him a conspiracy theorist, Rei didn’t feel like that was the case. Perhaps it was because he was pretty attractive for such a cat that goes out during Risk Hour…

Rei pushed the thought to the back of his mind and stood up from the rocks. The sun had just crept below the mountain and dusk was starting to set in. He exited the pier and started walking into the tight streets in between the ginormous buildings towering over the intrinsically small Haku City. Most of these buildings were incredibly empty due to the fact that most people fled after the eruption, and only a few windows with light were dotted around the towers. Rei felt the desolation this place left behind after that event as he wandered through the ghost structures. Rei never really liked the city and hadn’t lived there at all for most of his life, but he was eventually forced to move there because of the college he was to attend being located deep inside Haku City. The decision ultimately ended up saving his life, however, as his previous home was in a small village on the side of Mount. Haku itself, called Frackburg. Rei had fond memories of that place, but tried to forget later events. Frackburg was the first place to be affected by Mount. Haku’s devastating disaster.
